VOLUNTEERING AT THE REHOMING CENTRE
We would love you to volunteer at the Rehoming Centre and would be pleased to accept your application if:
You can commit to volunteer for at least 3 months, on a regular slot once a week or fortnight.
You wish to volunteer in one of the roles listed at the times needed (please note we only recruit for specific roles at specific times)
You are over 16 years old
You can take instructions and read notices in English (to a complex level) as safety notices are in English.
You are reliable and punctual
You complete an application form and indicate which role you would like
You are able to work in an older building which is an environment with lots of steps and narrow spaces.
You can move easily and quickly around the kennels and be able to see and hear dogs’ behaviours and vocalisations in order to work safely with our dogs
(if working with our cats) you will need to bend, lift and stretch.
You can provide details of at least 1 reference.
As we choose to give our animals consistency and require animal care volunteers to go through relevant raining, we are not in a position to accept SOK or school project volunteers at the rehoming center.
Unfortunately, as familiarity with safe procedures and our animals is needed, we cannot offer placements for occasional volunteers nor corporate team-building days at the rehoming center either, however our fundraising or shops may have such openings.
Current role descriptions and details are:
Dog walking volunteer: Every day from 9 or 9.30am to 10.30 – or later, walking a selection of dogs as directed by the staff. Currently needed for Monday, Sunday and Saturday mornings.
Dog care volunteer: Every day of the week from 8am to 10.30am – helping our team with the morning cleaning and feeding of our dogs. Currently needed Monday, Sunday, Saturday. You will need to attend weekly so you can get to know the dogs and they you.
Cat care volunteer: From 9am to 11am – helping with the daily feeding and cleaning of our cat group. Currently needed for Mondays, Wednesdays and Sundays.
If you would like to apply please download and complete the form and attach it to an email or drop it into us at Floriana. You can either complete it electronically (in which case no need to sign it) or complete it by hand and scan it.
Many thanks and we look forward to hearing from you.

FUNDRAISING, EVENT & GROUP VOLUNTEERING
Groups – If you and a group of friends or work colleagues would like to help with a group project, then please let us know. Often we have projects which require a group of volunteers for just one day or a short period of time which can be mutually agreed (not in the animal centre). The type of projects that groups have carried out include painting, sponsored walks, fund raising events, and working on stands at our regular fairs.
Fundraising/Events Volunteer – Help is also needed with regards to fundraising and organizing of activities and events, where the MSPCA will be promoting its work. The activities can involve manning stalls, selling raffle tickets, meeting and greeting and so on. These types of roles involve contact with the public. Flexibility and good communication skills are important.
